Movies have
played a very important in my life. They have shaped me, influenced my thoughts
and perspectives immensely. However, there are a few movies that have deeply inspired
my life.
Movie #1: Raja Rani (Tamil movie- 2013)
I was 12
years old when I watched this movie. At that time, I believed that films are
just for entertainment until I watched this film. This film basically tells the
audience about how there is life even after one loses their loved ones but for
me it was more that this. That is when I had a ‘Great Revelation’ (or at least that
is what I like to call it). I realized that movies are not mere form of
entertainment but a medium through which a lot of messages can be sent to the
audience- ‘Movies have a purpose!’
Movie # 2: Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (Hindi- 2011)
Although this
movie released early, I could watch it only years later with my best friend-
watching a movie about best friends with my best friend, now, isn’t that
awesome! Everyone who has watched this movie would have yearned to go on a trip
like that with their friends and so did I. Apart from this, I learnt one
valuable lesson- “You only live once so cherish each moment!” Its easier said
than done, however as time slips through your hands is when you realize the worth
of this phrase. I consciously started believing and implementing this in my
life- I started relishing each second of my life and life has just gotten
better since then!
Movie # 3: The Faults in our Stars (English-2014)
The movie
and the book- “The Faults in our Stars” is a beautiful story that has widen my intellectual
horizons and made me believe that not all love stories have a happy ending but
most of them have a sad ending but can also be beautiful at the same time. This
movie made me understand the grey area of romantic stories were dying of one
protagonist is not considered to be romantic- the fantasy of a ‘They lived happily
ever after’ was broken and was replaced with ‘The lived a happy life as long as
they could!’ Although they lived only for a few days they lived those days to
the fullest.
Movie #
4: Me before You (English- 2016)
The movie and
the book- “Me before You” is the story of a quadruplet and his caregiver. This movie
portrays the selfless love of a caregiver, who goes an extra mile to make him
live his life happily. The protagonist who is paralyzed finds it difficult to
accept his life as a quad, but the caregiver tries her best to make him cherish
his life as a quad. I learnt that one needs to respect another person’s decisions
and accept and love them the way they are, without any judgements. “Love has no
conditions, its unconditional!”
Movie #
5: A Dog’s Purpose (English- 2017)
A wonderful
movie that shows the journey of a dog and it purpose in life that is to always
make his master happy. After losing my dog, I truly realized the meaning of
this movie- ‘Every dog has a purpose’ and mine did too. After his death, my
entire family was broken and a few months later we adopted a dog who was almost
on his death bed and gave him a new life. We all still believe that he was sent
to this house on a purpose- to make us all happy again. Indeed, this movie did
impact all our lives.
Movies have
deeply influenced my life. I learn new things from every movie- take the good
things and implement it in my life.
